The Bridge

The River Yangtze flows through the Chinese city of Wuhan and five major suspension bridges cross the river. The Yangsigang Yangtze River Bridge is the largest, at 1,700m central span, and an overall length of over 4,000m. It carries local city traffic on the lower deck and an expressway on the upper deck.

A stiffened-truss deck was constructed in prefabricated sections that were lifted up from the river and welded together. The entire bridge is painted a distinctive yellow.
